It was a self-indulgently dreary kind of day. One of those grey, rainy and windy days that make you want to re-read Wuthering Heights, sing sad love songs…and paint a few flowers in a dark grey pond.
Alas, I had not painted in a while. And was again impatient. So this was the process and the result.
I made a BIG mistake right from the start by painting the reflection of the lilies in this strong tone of madder lake deep red.
The lilies look ok but omg look at the red blob.
I had no motivation to finish this. I tried to cover the red blob with several layers of ultramarine blue mixed with payne’s grey. It does not seem to be working. Sigh. Ok, time out.
